Thamarasi Mahawattage is the author of Rickety Rocks which won the prestigious Sri Lankan State Literary award for the Best Childrens’ English Literature in 2022. She is the co-author of teen/tween novelette “Visakhavak”, a co-translator of the collection of short stories “No Letter from Mother”, and has contributed to popular cartoon based children’s stories as a panel writer. Graduating from the University of Kelaniya , Sri Lanka with a BA Honours followed by a Masters degree in Linguistics, she also holds a Diploma in Counselling from the Institute of Psychological Studies, Sri Lanka. She is a former Head of Department at SLIATE and a state University Lecturer. Also a gold medalist for English oratory at Aquinas College of Higher Studies. A Translator by profession, Thamarasi is a teacher and poet but is happiest playing the role of a storyteller who aspires to inspire her audience through her stories.
