The Asian Prizes consist of five separate awards that recognise outstanding contributions to global literature in the categories of fiction, short stories, poetry, and translation. While the Asian Group of Literature oversees the prizes, the sponsorship for each award, except the Asian Prize for Literature, may vary from one edition to the next.
The Asian Prizes are awarded through a rigorous, multi-tiered evaluation process of works submitted by publishers. The prize evaluators for each edition represent the diverse global literary landscape and come from different parts of the world.
The management of The Asian Prizes differs from standard prize procedures: The Asian Prize for fiction follows a ‘No Judges Policy’. This means the evaluation process is administered confidentially and does not declare the evaluators. Additionally, The Asian Prize for Fiction is not publicly funded, allowing The Asian Group of Literature and its partners to have absolute authority over the process and decision-making, remaining free from external influences. The selection of evaluators is based on The Asian Group’s own assessment, and any form of lobbying is grounds for disqualification.
