Virajini Thennekoon is a Sri Lanka fiction writer who emerged in Sri Lanka's national level literary scene with her debut work, "Pickle and Other Stories", which was nominated and short-listed for the Sri Lanka State Literary Award.
In 2019, she wrote her first Novel "Makaranandaya", which won the State Literary Award and "Vidyodaya" Literary Award, awarded annually by the University of Jayawardhanapura, Sri Lanka.
Then she launched her second Short Story collection, "The Blind Man and the Theory of the Cheroot", in the year 2022, which was short-listed for the State Literary Award and awarded by "Vidyodaya" award as the best Short Story collection in 2022.
Her most recent work of fiction 'Camilia' won both Swarna Pusthaka and State Literary Award for the best fiction in 2024.
